In an emergency

Safety first

First, make sure everyone is safe, then call the State Emergency Service (SES) on 132 500 for help in the event of flood, storm, tsunami or bushfire.

Safety first

First, make sure everyone is ok and call 000 if someone is injured or there are hazards.

Vehicle damage

If your car can not be driven, have your car towed to the nearest repairer of your choice.

MHIA may cover the cost of a hire car for $70 per day up to 30 days whilst your vehicle is being assessed and repaired. Please refer to your PDS for full terms and conditions on hire car.

Information to collect

If you are involved in an accident, it is important to collect the following information, especially if a third party is involved:

  • Third partys name
  • Contact number
  • Address
  • Drivers licence number
  • Registration number
  • Insurance details, including their insurer, policy number and claim number if they already have one.

Once it is safe to do so, contact us to lodge your claim.
