There are plenty of reasons to go paperless

Convenient

Your documents arrive in your inbox, so they are with you anywhere you can check your email. Nothing to file away, and nothing to lose.

Quick

No waiting for the post. Your documents are sent to you as soon as they are issued, which matters most when you are renewing close to your due date.

Proof for your community

Your community manager may ask proof that you hold legal liability cover. Your level of legal liability cover is listed on your Certificate of Insurance, which is sometimes asked for as a 'certificate of currency'. Forwarding the email is all it takes - nothing to photocopy, scan or post.

Kinder to the environment

Less paper printed, less mail posted. A small change that adds up across our community of policyholders.

Going paperless is easy

Online

Complete our short form with your policy number and the email address you would like your documents sent to. You will find your policy number on the front page of your policy document.

Phone

Prefer to talk it through? Call us Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5:30pm. There are no automated menus, so you will speak to a real person who can make the change while you are on the call.

Questions? Answers.

Which documents will I receive by email?

Once you have switched, we will email the documents we would otherwise have posted to you, including your renewal notice, your Certificate of Insurance and your policy documents.

Some correspondence may still need to be sent by post.

When will my documents start arriving by email?

From the next documents we issue on your policy. If your renewal has already been printed and posted, the change will take effect from the following document instead.

Can I use my emailed documents as proof of cover for my community?

Yes. Your Certificate of Insurance shows the legal liability cover your community or village manager asks to see, and it is sometimes asked for as a 'certificate of currency'. Simply forward the email on to them each year when your policy renews.

My documents haven't arrived, what should I do?

First, check your junk or spam folder, as some email providers filter mail with attachments. If you still cannot find them, contact us and we will confirm the email address on your policy and send the documents again.

How do I stop your emails going to junk mail?

Add info@mhia.com.au to your contacts or safe senders list. The steps differ between email providers, but it is usually found under settings, filters, or by opening one of our emails and choosing to add the sender to your contacts.

I can't open the attachments, what should I do?

Our documents are sent as PDF files. Most phones, tablets and computers can open these without any extra software. If yours cannot, a current web browser such as Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge or Safari will open a PDF, or you can install a free PDF reader.

If you are still having trouble, call us and we can arrange another way to get your documents to you.

I've changed my email address, what do I do?

Contact us and let us know as soon as you can so your documents keep reaching you.

Can I go back to receiving documents by post?

Yes, at any time. Going paperless is completely optional, and you can switch back to post by calling us. If reading documents on a screen makes things harder for you, please tell us and we will find a way that works for you.
