Real Conversations with Real Homeowners: Glenn McGrath Meets Shirley and Peter

MHIA recently had the pleasure of visiting one of our customer communities with our new brand ambassador Glenn McGrath. We wanted to show him where our wonderful customers lived, what made their homes unique and give home owners the opportunity to tell Glenn why they had chosen MHIA for their home insurance over other insurers.

We sat down with two home owners, Shirley and Peter, discussing their reasons for choosing MHIA home and contents cover.

Shirley’s Story: Finding Her Place in a New Chapter

When Glenn met Shirley, he was greeted with a warm smile and a big heart. Shirley lives in a modern lifestyle village and like many others she made the move after re-evaluating what she wanted in her retirement.

"I explained why I had rung them, because I had more expense with other insurers” Shirley told Glenn. “They treated me like a person, because I’m a person without a husband now, so I felt good about that”

Shirley went on to comment on the experience she had with our service team, noting “they were very verbal with what they were telling me, and the do’s the don’ts and also the fact that I could pay monthly”

Shirley told Glenn about how delighted she was with MHIA’s affordability noting “I have my contents with them as well and I had thought, one deal - one price”.

When Glenn asked if she was satisfied with her cover Shirley responded “Absolutely, not had a problem yet!”

Peter’s Story: Practical, Down-to-Earth, and Focused on the Future

In our second interview, Glenn caught up with Peter, who had made the decision to change from his previous insurer over to MHIA after they had received a major shock when covering their land lease home.

When Glenn asked why Peter had chosen MHIA he commented “We were insured with another company, a very well known company, and they virtually refused our insurance”.

We explained to Glenn that this was sadly common occurrence, that the big insurers don’t understand how to best cover land lease or manufactured homes. Luckily for Peter, MHIA does.

Peter went on to share how he had first heard of MHIA “Speaking to the neighbours, there’s a lot of time speaking to the neighbours in here, and they recommended MHIA”.

“Insurance is important, but what does it actually mean to you” asked Glenn, to which Peter replied “As you get older you have more insecurities, so probably the security of an obviously reputable insurance company”
