A Friendly Rivalry: Hometown Australia State of Origin Bowling Grand Final 2025

Queensland versus New South Wales, a rivalry as old as the states themselves! Two teams enter, one team leaves victorious. A game of skill, luck and hard work. We’re not talking about the footy either, no the ultimate contest is held on a bowling green. A showdown between rival state teams for the 2025 Hometown Australia State of Origin Bowls Competition!

With multiple matches planned throughout the day it was an exciting display of the skill and effort of the players present. After some tense rounds of (friendly) competition, the title was taken home by the Queensland team, with the New South Welshman vowing to return next year to contest it once again!

MHIA Player of the Series Tribute: David Doolan

This year, MHIA was proud to present the MHIA Insurances Player of the Series. This award represents more than just a player’s skill on the green and honours the dedication, sportsmanship, and character that makes this event so special.

It was with great admiration and deep sadness that the award was presented posthumously to David Doolan from Boronia Range. David had proudly participated in the State of Origin Bowling competition for the past three years, known for his infectious humour, spirit, and unwavering commitment. His presence was missed and deeply felt.

A Final That Was Grand

The 2025 Grand Final represented a true celebration of community. Combining competition, laughter, great food, and genuine connection. A huge thank you to all the players, supporters, volunteers, and Hometown Australia who made it possible. We look forward to supporting the Hometown Australia State of Origin Bowling Competition in 2026!
